Webinar 1 - Budgeting

The L+EARN Webinar series is back. If you missed our first webinar worry no more. Here are some key tips form our speakers.

“Budgeting and saving should not be the exception, but the norm  . . . don’t choose immediate rewards, spend within your means, save and reward yourself with a small treat at the end of the year for being disciplined and sticking to your goals.” these were tips from student Musa Maluleka, a  speaker on the L+EARN Budgeting Webinar.

“To keep within your budget and to keep saving you can get a family member or a friend to keep you accountable. But a budget is the one tool you can use on your own to keep yourself accountable. Revisit it regularly, make conscious financial decisions and check those numbers and see whether you are spending according to plan or falling off the wagon.”   - These tips are from Mulalo Nemataheni, a certified financial planner and a panelist on the L+EARN Budgeting Webinar.  Watch the webinar below.

Webinar 2 - Saving and Investing

If you missed out on webinar two, these were some of the key tips shared.

“With unit trust funds you are outsourcing the responsibility of picking shares, property and other financial instruments and the decision making to a fund manager.” Tsungai Masendeke a certified financial planner and speaker on the Saving and Investing webinar.

“You need to start investing early and maximise on the compound effect. The earlier you start the better, time is on your side.” These were tips shared by Zwannda Rasiwela, a speaker at the L+EARN Saving and Investing webinar.   If you missed out, watch the webinar recording below:

Webinar 3 - Investing part two

“Remember, it is not about timing the market but about time in the market, allow your investment to grow over a long time.”  Says Sydney Sekese, a certified financial planner and speaker on the investment part two webinar.

“Never invest in something you don’t understand – do your research, read fund fact sheets, investment reports, investment prospectuses in the case of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, read books, watch YouTube videos and podcasts.”- Imran Lorgat, guest speaker on the investment part two webinar. Webinar 4 - Credit

“What you qualify for is different from what you can afford. Check your budget carefully before taking credit and only take what you require.  Consider if you can afford the repayments with everything else in your budget.” These were tips form Thembisa Luthuli, a certified financial planner and speaker on the L+EARN Credit webinar.  Watch the recording for more.

Webinar 5 - Work Readiness

“When applying for jobs and you get rejection letters, view that rejection as redirection.” -Kudzai Mbele, guest speaker on the work readiness webinar.

“When you get a learnership opportunity, have integrity, accountability and look for leadership opportunities.  Continuously look for opportunities to learn, grow and develop yourself.” Says Tshepiso Ramotsehoa, a leadership coach and speaker on the work readiness webinar.  If you missed it, click the video to watch the recording.

Webinar 6 - Finances and Mental Health

“Balancing money and emotions is about knowing your values, your beliefs, your goals and choosing how to spend.  We are social beings, influence from others around us is inevitable, but the more self-aware you are, the better you can be at self-regulating.”– Dr Mavis Mazhura, a speaker on the L+EARN Webinar on Finances and Mental Health. If you missed out you can view the recording.

Webinar 7 - Encouraging an Entrepreneurial Mindset

“Anyone can be an entrepreneur – if you are thinking about it, go ahead and start something! Owen Muzambi, a speaker on the L+EARN Webinar on Encouraging an Entrepreneurial Mindset.

“Be passionately optimistic about yourself and your idea and just start!” – Musa Maluleka – founder of Disktjie and a speaker on the Encouraging an Entrepreneurial Mindset Webinar.
